Scottish Volleyball’s Special Events Commission is looking for members of our community to join them as they support the delivery of events.
The commission primarily support Scottish Volleyball at Cup Finals Weekend, International Beach Events and many others.

Aims of Special Events Commission
“Recruit and train volunteers that will deliver high quality volleyball events in Scotland by supporting all activities in and around the venue, leading up to and including the Event itself”
Media Coordinator:
- Be responsible for all technical aspects of the tournaments with respect to communication. This includes statistics, web and social media and media liaison;
- Liaise with the Scottish Volleyball to put in place the appropriate technology for supporting the event such as computers, sound system, internet connections, video cameras and displays for scoring and tournament progress;
- Assist with the creation of the Scottish Volleyball Social Media plan alongside Scottish Volleyball Office staff.
- Prepare social media for advertising prior to the event, during the event, as well as after the event in accordance with the Scottish Volleyball Social Media plan;
- Prepare news reports for the Scottish Volleyball/CEV website around events;
- Work with local and national media in the run-up to events to publicise;
- Liaise with Photographers to ensure photographers face no difficulties during events;
- Work with partners to deliver a high-quality, reliable livestream for all events, possibly including aspects such as score on screen, multiple camera angles, replays and commentary;
- Evaluate all media aspects of the event as part of the process of improving the service provided by the SEC.
Acts as Media Lead at events. Coordinates the delivery of social media, photography, traditional media and livestreams during events.
Volunteer Coordinator:
- Be familiar with all human resource requirements for national and international events and liaise specifically with the Chair, Training Coordinator, Referees Commission, and the Scottish Volleyball office to agree on the HR needs for upcoming national and international events;
- Establish simple Job descriptions for both paid and volunteer staff working at Scottish Volleyball events;
- Alongside the Workforce Officer, recruit and select appropriate people for each Scottish Volleyball event;
- In cooperation with the Scottish Volleyball office, the appointed Event Director, the Technical Advisor and the rest of the SEC, establish a command and control centre for the coordination of all activities that occur around the Event;
- Liaise with the Workforce Officer to ensure that all staff and volunteers are available as required;
- Monitor the activities of volunteers and check that schedules are adhered to;
- Ensure that all staff are rotated to avoid fatigue;
- Evaluate volunteer experience and report to the Scottish Volleyball via the SEC using appropriate evidence to determine the achievement or otherwise of agreed performance indicators and comments from volunteers.
Act as Volunteer Coordinator during events.
Venue Coordinator:
- Be familiar with all set up requirements for national and international events, focusing on spectator areas, changing rooms, back of house areas, and VIP areas;
- Ensure schedules are kept and maintained for the use of back of house and changing areas;
- Keep record of venues used for prior events or those that could be potentially used in the future, noting aspects such as the court(s) layout, equipment, opening hours, and cost;
- Assist in the planning and implementation the set up and dissolution of the event venue;
- Monitor the venue and ensure areas are clearly labelled and accreditation is adhered to when necessary;
- Take steps to maintain the venue in a condition which is appropriate for the event, ensuring athlete and staff safety and comfort;
- Liase with the venue on behalf of the event team when necessary;
- Evaluate all aspects of the event set up and dissolution as part of the process of improving the service provided by the SEC.
Acts as Venue Lead during events. Lead the build and derigging of all events and liase with the venue during the vent as necessary.
