Scottish Volleyball are delighted to announce the appointment of Lorna McAvoy as our new Community Development Officer. Lorna was selected as the successful candidate from a very competitive process and started in her new role on Monday 2nd June.
Scotland is set to make waves on the international beach volleyball stage this summer as it prepares to host a leg of the 2025 SCA (Small Countries Association) Beach Volleyball Zonal Tour. The tournament, scheduled from the 18th to the 20th of July, will be held on the inland courts at Kyle Academy in Ayr, marking a major milestone in Scotland’s growing beach volleyball scene. Having last hosted in 2023, Scottish Volleyball is excited to be bringing international beach volleyball back to the sand in Scotland.
They came from all over, almost like a religious calling, to Perth’s North Inch over the weekend to savour what has become the most popular event in Scottish Volleyball’s calendar – the now famous Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament – and it didn’t disappoint.
Scottish Volleyball is proud to launch the Tartan Talent Beach Pathway for the 2025 season – an ambitious and inclusive programme designed to inspire and support Scotland’s next generation of beach volleyball athletes.
With five interconnected elements – Discover, Futures, Academy, League, and International Events – the pathway offers clear progression from first touches at local sessions to elite international competitions against future Olympians. Each strand plays a vital role in ensuring athletes at all levels have the opportunity to grow their game, gain exposure, and develop within a supportive national structure.
The 2025 Scottish Volleyball Premier League Playoff Finals delivered a thrilling conclusion to the season.
Scottish Volleyball’s oldest ongoing cup competition, the Scottish Student Volleyball Cup, may be 60 years old this year, but the talent on display was as fresh as ever in the recent semi-finals! The venue was the Sport and Active Health at the University of Dundee, which saw University of Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt University, University of Edinburgh, and the University of St Andrews prove their quality and became the first teams to qualify for a Scottish Student Volleyball Cup final at Scottish Volleyball’s Cup Finals Weekend.
The full Board of Scottish Volleyball met this past Sunday, 23rd February 2025, for the Board’s Annual Development Day, which included a Board meeting.
Sunday evening saw the league split into two with the top half teams, minus league leaders Ace Holes playing each other and the bottom three also playing each other.
