In true Scottish fashion, Sunday at the SCA Zonal Tour in Ayr delivered every season in a single afternoon: sunshine, showers, and all. But the drama on court outshone the weather, as the competition came to a thrilling close with six semi-finals, four medal matches, and a clean sweep of podium finishes for the host nation.

Scotland to Host SCA Beach Volleyball Zonal Tour in July 2025

Scotland is set to make waves on the international beach volleyball stage this summer as it prepares to host a leg of the 2025 SCA (Small Countries Association) Beach Volleyball Zonal Tour. The tournament, scheduled from the 18th to the 20th of July, will be held on the inland courts at Kyle Academy in Ayr, marking a major milestone in Scotland’s growing beach volleyball scene. Having last hosted in 2023, Scottish Volleyball is excited to be bringing international beach volleyball back to the sand in Scotland.

Building the Future of Beach Volleyball in Scotland: Tartan Talent Pathway Returns for 2025 

Scottish Volleyball is proud to launch the Tartan Talent Beach Pathway for the 2025 season – an ambitious and inclusive programme designed to inspire and support Scotland’s next generation of beach volleyball athletes. 

With five interconnected elements – Discover, Futures, Academy, League, and International Events – the pathway offers clear progression from first touches at local sessions to elite international competitions against future Olympians. Each strand plays a vital role in ensuring athletes at all levels have the opportunity to grow their game, gain exposure, and develop within a supportive national structure.

New Scotland Beach Head Coaches for Scottish Volleyball

Scottish Volleyball is pleased to confirm the appointments of Seain Cook and Rachael Gunn as Scotland Beach Head Coaches, following a competitive recruitment process aimed at strengthening the national beach volleyball programme. These roles are a result of continued support from Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and their ongoing Empowerment Project to support National Teams from growing Federations.

New Performance and Coaching Hub at Scottish Volleyball

Scottish Volleyball are excited to announce a new structure for Performance and Coaching within the office. Thanks to continued and expanded support from sportscotland and Fédération International de Volleyball (FIVB), Scottish Volleyball will have two full-time permanent staff working with National Teams and on our Coach Education as well as a part-time Beach Volleyball coach.  

Jamie Salvin Refereeing Netherlands Euro Beach Championships

Jamie Salvin, one of our highest level international beach referees, has recently been appointed to the Euro Beach Championships, held this year in the Hague in the Netherlands. Kicking off straight after the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, the draw for both the men and women’s competitions is full of the big names from the Beach Volleyball world, including number one seeds and gold medal winners Åhman and Hellvig.
