Vacancy Announcement - Development Officer (Community)
Full time – Fixed Term (September 2026 – April 2027)
Scottish Volleyball, in partnership with sportscotland, is seeking to recruit a Development Officer (Community) to deliver on the strategic plan “We Are Volleyball” in communities around Scotland.
Are you passionate about volleyball and its growth and development in Scotland? Do you enjoy working in community sports? Do you want to make a difference? Do you enjoy planning? Is coaching and building partnerships your thing?
This role is all about taking volleyball in Scotland to the next level in line with our Strategic Plan “We are Volleyball,” with particular emphasis and support for community-based volleyball and development.
We are looking for someone who can develop strong relationships with schools, clubs and local authorities; who is able to promote our grass roots pathways (for both indoor and beach volleyball) into clubs as well as our elite athlete Tartan Talent Pathway; someone who thinks creatively about engaging with the community to develop new ways to bring volleyball to more people, including our sitting volleyball programme, and our regional beach performance sessions.
We’ll also be looking to develop our national recreational leagues and competitions, with you supporting these and other major events during the year. It will also be important to develop our staff and so you will need to be able to identify and recruit key volunteers and identify education and development needs across the national club environment for coaches, leaders, teachers and officials.
Being good with numbers is essential: manage your budgets and seek out additional funding opportunities. Know your way around IT and be able to communicate well (spoken English is essential).
Finally, it would be great if you had successfully worked in community sports and have a sound understanding of the Scottish sporting landscape, as well as working with athletes with disabilities.
Sound like you? Think you could work to our values, strategy and mission statement?
