The Scotland Senior Men’s National Team finished second at the 2025 CEV SCA Championships in San Marino, securing a silver medal after three competitive matches across the weekend.
The team got off to a strong start on Friday evening, delivering a composed 3–0 win (25–19, 25–22, 25–22) over Northern Ireland. The squad executed the game plan well, with consistent service pressure and solid control in transition.
Saturday’s match against the hosts was a five-set battle in front of a packed home crowd. Despite coming from behind and taking the second set convincingly, Scotland narrowly lost out in the fifth, falling 3–2 (22–25, 25–17, 25–20, 19–25, 13–15) to San Marino in what proved to be the title-deciding match.
On Sunday, Scotland bounced back with a clinical whole-team performance against Ireland. The team controlled the match from start to finish, winning 3–0 (25–18, 25–16, 31–29) to secure second place overall and finish the weekend on a high.
There was individual recognition too, with captain Liam Darling named Best Libero of the tournament, and Conor Walker awarded Best Outside Hitter, both acknowledged for their consistency across all three matches.

Ally Jack, Head Coach and Head of Performance and Coaching, commented, “It was a good weekend overall. We played some solid volleyball, stuck together under pressure, and showed we could compete across the board. The match against San Marino was tight and could’ve gone either way. I’m proud of how the group performed and it’s encouraging to see the development from many players.”
The squad included four Tartan Talent Pathway graduates – Cole Turnbull, Jack Rodger, Ewan Ramsay, and Daniel Przybylski – all of whom continue to progress well at the senior level and have shown their ability to represent Scotland at the highest level.
Thanks to the SCA and the San Marino Federation for hosting a well-organised tournament, and to everyone who tuned in and supported the team online. Next up, the Senior Women travel to Dublin to compete in the Women’s Championships in 10 days!
