South Ayrshire hosted Volleyball Aberdeen Vortex this week in the Men’s Premier Division. The Ayrshire side banked their first win since promotion with an exciting 3-2 over the Aberdeen side. Rory Russel had an excellent game, his 19 kills and attack percentage of 0.58 help South to get the win. Glasgow Mets hosted city of Glasgow Ragazzi, winning the first set but not quite keeping their momentum, losing the next 3 sets, helped in part by Daniel Okungbowa and his 5 aces. Edinburgh University hosted fellow Edinburgh based team Edinburgh Jets Bears. Our second five setter of the weekend saw the university side take home the win 3-2.  Finally, as part of their Super Saturday NUVOC hosted City of Edinburgh at Liberton High School, with the venue fully decked out in branding and taraflex for the occasion. Looking for the win, the hosts went 2-0 down before bringing it back in the 3rd. Even with Thomas Barr contributing 5 blocks, they couldn’t keep that momentum going through and ultimately fell 3-1 to the team in blue.

In the women’s side, Volleyball Aberdeen had a successful trip down to Ayrshire, taking home a 3-0 win against Caledonia West Ayrshire aces. Another 5 set thriller saw Su Ragazzi just scrape a win against Glasgow Mets, finishing 3-2. Alice Zeimann had another stunning match bringing home 30 kills, greatly assisted by Amy Clark and her 43 assists. Edinburgh Jets were playing Edinburgh University, bringing home a 3-1 win over the university side. Jets had 39 kills throughout the 4 sets, Isabelle Linde bringing home 12 of them. NUVOC were also taking on City of Edinburgh on the freshly laid taraflex. A dramatic first set saw the home team take it 30-28, before City of Edinburgh came back to comfortably win the next 3, finishing the match 3-1. City had a great defensive set up but it was Sydney Maxwell who shone with a passing percentage of 2.21%.
