Following a debut season which blew away all expectations, Scottish Volleyball are excited to launch the second season of the Tartan Talent Pathway. Having taken feedback from both players and coaches, and following a thorough internal review, Scottish Volleyball have continued to innovate the programme to further enable and encourage juniors to progress from Schools Volleyball to Club Volleyball and to National Teams whilst growing as individuals both on and off the court.

This year marks the start of a new cycle for Junior National Teams and will be focusing on athletes born in the years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. For athletes born in the years 2005 and 2006, there will be an alternative opportunity offered through the Senior National Teams. Players do not need to be playing at a club but ideally will have some experience playing 6v6 Volleyball although this is not a requirement.

To aide in the transition into year two, the programme will maintain a similar approach for October, November, and December. Scottish Volleyball will run a series of open-invite Regional Sessions through October and November, with a large group of athletes selected to attend later Development sessions after Christmas. Athletes should attend their most local session where possible as well as up-to two other sessions around the country. This should enable all athletes to be fully seen at their best. Sessions are as below and can be signed up for at https://scottishvolleyball.justgo.com/Workbench/i/r/EventsAndBookings/.

In January, Scottish Volleyball has committed to delivering Development Sessions twice a month on average, with athletes working towards participation in a National Team either competing at a regional SCA European Championships in the period April to June or participation in a National Team camp during  the same period.

The Scottish Volleyball Development Team are also working to enable the delivery of weekly Regional sessions all-year round to enable the continued development of athletes not selected for the Development sessions. This is currently scheduled to commence in January 2025. Clubs and coaches will be contacted about this soon with an update to parents and athletes once details are confirmed. Please await a further update prior to asking questions about this new addition to the Pathway.

The Tartan Talent Pathway also seeks to develop coaches as we welcome any teachers, club coaches, current and former players who wish to assist at the sessions and receive either formal mentoring and feedback or informal support during the sessions. Please contact for more information on this and to register interest.
