Scottish Volleyball is excited to announce the upcoming Rising Stars Camp, designed to elevate the skills of our Under 20 Women’s National Team while providing coaching insight and experience from an FIVB expert. This unique event will take place from Friday, 16th August to Sunday, 18th August, at Oriam, Edinburgh, and promises to be a highlight in our sporting calendar.
Event Overview
The Rising Stars Camp combines high-performance training for our young athletes with comprehensive educational sessions for coaches. The camp has been organised by Ally Jack, our Empowerment funded High Performance Coach and Coaching Manager, and is generously supported by the Knowledge Transfer Fund from FIVB.
Schedule and Highlights
Friday, 16th August
– Evening Seminar: Kicking off the event, Chris Kroeger, a distinguished FIVB instructor, will deliver an insightful seminar focusing on advanced coaching techniques and strategies. This session sets the stage for an intensive weekend of learning and development.
Saturday, 17th August
– Morning Practical Session: Coaches will have the opportunity to observe a practical training session conducted by Chris Kroeger, focusing on service and reception. This hands-on experience is invaluable for understanding the application of coaching theories in real-time.
– Afternoon Practical Session: A second practical session will delve into offence strategies and setting techniques, allowing coaches to witness and learn advanced methods to improve their teams’ offensive plays.
– Evening Seminar: Another seminar by Chris Kroeger will provide deeper insights and answer any questions from the day’s practical observations.
Sunday, 18th August
– Morning Practical Session: The final practical session of the camp will focus on blocking techniques and integrating overall team strategies. This is an opportunity for coaches to gain insights into defensive plays and how to counteract opponent strategies.
– Afternoon Seminar: The event will conclude with a seminar summarizing the key learnings of the weekend and providing actionable takeaways for all attendees.
Participation Details
– Coach Education: The coach education component of the Rising Stars Camp is a unique opportunity for coaches to enhance their knowledge and skills. Seminars are accessible online, ensuring that coaches from all locations can benefit from the expertise of Chris Kroeger. However, to gain the full experience, including observing the practical sessions, coaches must attend in person.
– Cost: The cost for coaches to participate in the event is £50 for Scottish Volleyball members, representing excellent value for this high-quality educational experience.
