Scottish Volleyball is thrilled to announce an action-packed weekend of international volleyball fixtures against Volleyball Ireland. The eagerly anticipated matches are set to take place on the 16th and 17th of December at the prestigious Glasgow University, Stevenson Building, and will feature a total of four fixtures each day. The matches will include senior women, senior men, U20 women, and U20 men, promising a thrilling display of talent and teamwork on the court.
The upcoming fixtures hold a special significance as both the U20 Scottish teams recently visited Dublin, where they faced formidable opponents and encountered defeat in both matches. Eager to learn from their experiences and improve their performance, the young talents are more determined than ever to make a strong comeback.
Margaret Ann Fleming MBE, CEO of Scottish Volleyball, expressed her delight at the prospect of welcoming Volleyball Ireland to Scotland, saying, “We are delighted to be hosting Volleyball Ireland in December. They are a federation with whom we have excellent working relationships, and we look forward to witnessing four highly competitive matches on the court.”
Ally Jack, High-Performance Coach and Coaching Manager at Scottish Volleyball, also shared his excitement for the upcoming fixtures, saying, “The weekend promises to be a fantastic way to kick off the festive period. We are pleased that Glasgow University will be hosting the matches in a first-class facility at the Stevenson Building, and we look forward to delivering a top-notch event.”
Squads for the upcoming fixtures will be carefully selected at the beginning of December, ensuring Scotland fields its best talent for these competitive matches. Additionally, the National Team staff may operate in interim roles depending on the progress of the recently announced National Team staff appointment process, which aims to promote diversity and inclusivity within the sport.
