Scottish Volleyball Get Together

Get Together

Scottish Volleyball is delighted to announce the “Get Together”, a gathering of Scottish Volleyball staff and members, held alongside the Scottish Cup and Plate semi-finals at the Inverclyde National Sports Centre in Largs.

The Cup and Plate semi-finals will be played simultaneously and there will be seating available throughout the day, with all the matches live streamed on our main channels.

On the Sunday we are excited to announce an exciting day full of activities dedicated to our members.

Our Head Coach for the indoor men’s National Team Ally Jack will deliver a coaches development session. Coming back from his FIVB course in Thailand, he will share great knowledge about effective session planning. This session will be divided into three sections, dedicated to long term planning, side out and block defence transition. This will be an early start for our coaches, as it will start at 8.30am and it will last the entire morning.

During the coaching development session, we are happy to deliver club focussed sessions, aiming at sharing best practice from our clubs to our clubs. This session will be mediated by the National Clubs and Regional Development officer Veronica Rusich together with Blair Pettigrew, Head of Pathways and Regional Development officer for the West of Scotland. Areas such Junior Development, social impact and organisational structures will be covered.

The Referees Commission will be meeting at the same time, and it will be the first meeting chaired by the new president Dave Cormie. Last but not least, the Board of Directors of Scottish Volleyball will have their regular meeting during the morning.

To conclude a very busy day of activities, our CEO Margaret Ann Fleming together with the Board of Directors, will be presenting the new strategic plan, with a final Q&A session with the Board of the end.

As the Sunday will be an early morning start for everyone, there is the possibility for our members to stay at the Inverclyde National Centre overnight on the Saturday after the conclusion of the semi-final matches. On the Saturday evening, there will be an informal gathering with board, staff and members – nicknamed ‘fire side chats’.

All the sessions will be free of charge and offered by Scottish Volleyball. Should you wish to stay at the Inverclyde overnight, this will cost £40 for a bed in a twin bedroom with B&B or £60 for a single occupancy always with B&B included. Lunch on the Sunday will be provided for the participants.

If you would like to participate, please RSVP at info@scottishvolleyball.org. If you wish to stay overnight at the sport centre, please indicate that in the email, as there is limited availability, and we will work on a first come first served basis.
