SVA & SOVT bring a Volleyball Extravaganza to Perth

Scottish Volleyball is delighted to announce in Partnership with Perth & SWNTPKinross Council, LiveActive and the Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament that the CEV Small Countries Division European Championship Qualifier will be staged during the weekend of 6-8 June 2014.

Margaret Ann Fleming, CEO of SVA commented, “We are delighted to go into this partnership with Perth & Kinross Council in-order to host our Senior Women’s National Team in their first competitive European SCD match on Scottish soil for many a year. Dave Munro has been instrumental in creating the link for Scottish Volleyball and we are delighted to take the tournament to a potential spectator base of over 1000 people. The atmosphere which will be created at the SOVT will make the event spectacular and I urge all Scottish Volleyball members to be part of this experience.’

Dave Munro from the Scottish Open talked about the link between the event and the SOVT “The Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament is proud to “open its doors” to accommodate the Women’s European Championship qualification tournament whilst still catering for the regulars who attend for the outdoor tournament who come from as far afield as Italy and Belgium. We feel the benefit of having the Euro Championships hopefully will work both ways with the outdoor players savouring the indoor competition and the indoor competitors seeing the fun and fellowship at the largest outdoor volleyball festival in the UK”.

LiveActive manager Kerr Smith gave some benefits to the area and the venue itself “Live Active Leisure is delighted to be working with the SOVT again this year to bring this great event back to the North Inch and Bell’s Sports Centre.  We have been working with SOVT for over 20 years now and we wish them every success for another great tournament.  It’s especially exciting that the Ladies European event will also be held on the same weekend, giving volleyball lovers more opportunity to enjoy a great weekend of sport”.

We are currently seeking NTOs (Scorers and linejudges) and general volunteers for this event, if interested please contact the office by email to
