Grade III Referee Course running alongside Scottish Student Sport Cup

The Scottish Volleyball Referees’ Commission are excited to announce the opportunity for Grade 4 Referees to take part in a Grade 3 Referee Course on Sunday 6th February or Sunday 13th February. The courses will be at the University of Stirling on Sunday 6th February and at the University of Dundee ISE on Sunday 13th February. Both courses are expected to last from approximately 09.30 till 17.00.

The course costs £25 per candidate with limited spaces on each course. Candidates can register now to take part in the course via the Scottish Volleyball Membership Database. Candidates will be advised on match procedures before being observed. Each participant will be expected to referee at least once as 1st referee and once as 2nd referee throughout the day.

This course is ideal for those who have been active Grade 4 referees for at least 6 months and would like to progress along the Referee pathway. The course upskills referees who have undertaken the introductory (grade IV) course, enhances knowledge and application of the official rules of the games, and focuses on getting the correct mechanics of refereeing and correcting any mistaken aspects of the manner and method of refereeing

Grade 3 allows the award holder to be 2nd Referee in SVL Premier matches as well as acting as 1st referee in all other division and in the Scottish Cup and Plate until the Quarter-Finals.

Please note, players taking part in the Scottish Student Sport Cup will sadly be unable to take part in this course. Furthermore, both courses rely on the relaxation of current Covid-19 guidance.
