Going for Gold Coast

19/2/2017 – Prague, Czech Republic

This weekend saw us swap the beaches of Portobello for an impressive indoor Beach Volleyball complex in Prague.

This time we were playing in the Czech National Winter tour with a very good line up of teams to play against, including teams from Czech Republic, Slovakia and Finland.  It was a flying visit, arriving on Saturday evening and leaving in the very early hours of Monday morning.  Our campaign started with an 08.30am match against a young but talented Czech team.  After winning this match and another  2-0 against a tough Slovakian team (after being 15-20 down in the second), we had qualified from the group stages into the Quarter Finals, where we faced a very experienced Czech team.  Despite playing some of our best volleyball to date, we went down 2-0 to the eventual Finalists of the tournament.

We still had another game to play to decide 5/6th place, and this time we faced another tough team, losing narrowly in a very close encounter.

At this point in the season its not about the results, but rather the opportunity to play and put things into practice.  This is exactly what we got, the results WILL come.  We are getting better with every touch of the ball, and will take lots of positives back to Portobello to build on.

We look forward to our next update from our next event…

4th February 2017 – Copenhagen, Denmark

After 3 months of hard graft over the winter, we finally got the chance to compete..  The first of our scheduled pre-season tournaments saw us travel to Copenhagen to play in the Danish National Winter Tour.

Matches is what we were there for, and matches we got, with an unbeaten run all the way to the Tournament Final where we faced a top Danish National Team.  Unfortunately we didn’t get the win but we were really happy with how the tournament went, performing well in competitive situations; a great opportunity to put all our hard work over the winter to the test…

Thanks to Copenhagen Beach Volleyball Club for having us!

19th December 2016

After A LOT of support from you guys, we have managed to reach our initial Crowdfunding target of £2000!!!  We cannot thank each and every one of you enough for your support, generosity and good wishes. THANK YOU for believing in us and what we are trying to achieve.

But it doesn’t stop here; we are still accepting pledges and donations; every little helps towards our ultimate goal.  We are now pushing for our stretch target in the last four days of our campaign to help towards our ultimate goal of raising £20,000 and qualifying for the Commonwealth Games 2018.
