As the dark days and long nights of Winter approach………
… it’s time to think of the Summer and the UK School Games Development Programme. The timetable for the development and selection sessions leading up to this fantastic event has just been announced….will you be part of this phenomenal opportunity in 2011?
The 2011 event will be held in Sheffield and it is just ’ The Best’ … talk to any of the Scottish athletes who were in Newcastle in September 2010 – talk to anyone who was in Cardiff in 2009 – the UK School Games is the most fantastic opportunity to experience both a major games, and high level volleyball.
To be selected to play for one of the four Scottish teams you have to participate in the development programme! You do not have to be a high level player to be nominated to attend the development sessions – you do have to be an enthusiast, you do have to be committed to getting better, you do have to be willing to listen to and work with the coaches, and you do have to be ambitious…. Does this describe you?
Last year we expanded the programme to include a series of additional sessions in Aberdeen to try and identify talented players from the North of Scotland – it worked! We did find some great players, and they were finally selected for the Scotland North and East Teams……could that be you? What about in the South of Scotland? Do you live in the Borders and want to be involved? If the answer is yes mail me at the SVA Office – we will be able to work something out……
The venues for the sessions have not been established yet, but the dates have and they are listed below. You can nominate yourself for the sessions, or your parents can nominate you, or your volleyball coach, or your PE teacher, there’s lots of ways of signing up for the 2011 programme….so why don’t you? Why don’t you take the chance to take part in this outstanding programme….meet new people……develop your talent….work with some fantastic coaches…….why don’t you?
