Scottish Volleyball Phase 3 guidance

Scottish Volleyball are delighted to provide our membership with updated “Playing It Safe” guidance.  This is based on the latest easing of lockdown announced on Thursday 8th July by the First Minister as we move into a staggered approach to phase 3.

Our resource page features our main guidance document, pop up and play information, a frequently asked question section and an infographic.

The main changes to restrictions are around numbers for those over 18 and further relaxation for those under when taking part in organised activity.

The maximum number of people per group should be 15 from a maximum of 5 households only.  The maximum number of adults (aged 18 or over) per court is 4, to allow social distance (2 metres) to be maintained at all times, and as long as specific conditions and public health and hygiene standards can be met.

From Monday 13th July 2020, an exception to the physical distance guidance  for participants under the age of 11 is in effect, they are no longer required to physically distance at any time.  Also from Monday 13th July 2020, players aged 12-17, will not be required to physical distance during play, but must be maintained before and after play.

Coaching activity is permitted during phase 3, but coaches should not deliver training to more than 4 households (or extended households) at any one time or provide coaching to more than 4 households (or extended households) per day.  The exception to this is where coaching involves organised children’s activity from Monday 13th July where they are not limited to the five household rule.  Scottish Volleyball have placed the guidance of a maximum of 90 minutes activity across all formats and age groups.

We are pleased that the lifting of restrictions will allow more people to become involved in playing but would ask all of those who are returning to play to read and understand the guidance and err on the side of caution and always “Play it Safe”.
